I don't believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive.

Joseph Campbell

To see The Holocene, all you have to do is look around you.

It is the name given to the last 12,000 years, since the end of the Ice Age, encompassing the entire history of humankind and the rise and fall of all its civilizations and cultures. In this way, The Holocene is also “The Age of Man(kind).”

Yet most people are unaware that they exist within The Holocene. Living day-to-day, we don’t pay much attention to epochs. It’s hard to relate.

In this same way, we too often live blissfully sheltered at home, unaware of our place within the rest of the world, content to remain in the comfort of the known. The Novelist Aldous Huxley said, “To travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries.”

Without travel, we can barely know the place in which we exist. Yet we grapple everyday with our purpose, asking the same universal questions: What is my purpose? Why am I here? Who am I?

Travel is our opportunity to attempt to answer these questions by exploring the whole (“holo-“) unknown and uncover new (“-cene”) experiences. To find our place in the unknown so that we might feel more alive.

Our mission is to better understand our esoteric present time and space and to connect us all through commonality and difference by exploring it in the only way we know how: One story at a time.
